In Germany, nobody says gesundheit when you sneeze. Instead, they call out, “Health!” in English.

Actually they don’t, and in fact, they get a little angry when you say, “Thank You,” instead of “Danke Schön…” How was I supposed to know! Apparently, my “good health” just got revoked…

    • Administrator Administrator says:

By the way, you also have to know how to pronounce “Schön,” or you look like a white-back-American…

Yesterday somebody visited this site while searching for “how to pronounce Schön.” I kid you not. So, Administrator, I think that you should explain how to pronounce it so the next guy who comes here searching for it will leave a better German speaker.

Okay, I kid you not. Pronouncing “ö” is a sound English speakers cannot say easily. I struggled a long time before I could do it. So, I will tell you how I was trained to say it, “It is the sound a horse makes, ‘who who’”… … My teacher really said this. I thought she was making a non-sequitur, but it worked for me… Can’t help much more than that… And, I am now completely confused as to what sound a horse actually makes, but apparently they can pronounce German very well.

You’re supposed to back up my made-up stuff about Germany!

      • Administrator Administrator says:

I’m sorry… I totally lied to just get the one-up on Dan of the Day… They do say “Health,” in Germany… Darn you Dan of the Day for exposing my lie about moving to Germany! I’ve really just been playing Final Fantasy in my parents basement… :( Sad for me, good for you :)

Which Final Fantasy? Double points if you say NES original. Triple if you say NES Japanese version.

I’ve been playing NES version… Not Japanese, but I owned that one for the Super Nintendo… But, it’s not as good…
